Religion is a very sensitive topic to discuss. It is as diverse as the population of India. People of different religions have their own beliefs. Studying them brings us one step closer to various sects of people. Broadly speaking there are two widely followed religions in the world except for Christianity. They are Islam and Hinduism. It is not very easy for a Hindu to convert to Islam or a Muslim to adopt Hinduism. It is a far-fetched concept for the two. But these daring celebrities converted to Islam to sought love and inner peace.
1. Michael Jackson
According to a report published in The Sun, Michael became a Muslim in 2008. This news spread like a wildfire in the world. According to some rumors, he also changed his name to Mikaeel. However, Jackson’s lawyer rubbished all these claims stating that it is a hoax. “That’s rubbish. It’s completely untrue,” McMillan told reporters,” Londell Mcmillen told the reporters.
2. Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson, former world heavyweight champion converted to Islam during his term in jail. He told his fans about his holy pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in July 2010 on Twitter. He tweeted,”I just left the Holy City of Mecca where I was blessed to have been able to make Umrah… Inshallah (God willing), Allah will continue to bless me to stay on the straight path.”
3. Muhammed Ali
He was a Christian from birth but after converting to Islam changed his name from Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr to Muhammed Ali.
4. Snoop Dogg
Snoop lend his support to the African American political and religious movement, Nation of Islam. It is still unknown if he had really converted to Islam or not.
5. A.R Rahman
Goldrn globe winner, Indian singer and music director, A.R Rahman was not a muslim by birth. His mother followed Sufi ideology before marriage. Later Rahman too embraced Islam.
6. Dharmendra and Hema Malini
Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur when he fell in love with Hema Malini. He couldn’t do two marriages, keeping both of them. Therefore both Hema and Dharmendra converted to Islam so that they could marry.
