Ever since baby boy, Taimur laid his feet in this world, people are showering their prayers upon him. But there is an another category of people too who were abusing and cursing the child from the very first day.
They couldn’t gulp down the fact that the couple has named their child ‘Taimur’.
While some open-minded people could not see anything bad in it, some just could not stand the fact.
In a democratic country, we all have a right to speak our mind and do what we like until and unless it is not hurting someone’s sentiments.
And naming one’s own baby is far from being a crime or hurting anybody’s beliefs.
As soon as Saif got out of the hospital and declared his baby’s name as Taimur, people lashed out at him.
Saif and Kareena did not comment on it but veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor could not hold it for long and slammed such shameless people for trolling a small baby on the basis of some illogical reason.
After a long 1.5 months, Saif has finally broken silence on the issue. They came out in public to defend himself.
“I’m aware of the heritage of the Turkish ruler and my son was not named after him. He was Timur, my son is Taimur. Perhaps the root is similar but it’s not the same name. Taimur is an ancient Persian name meaning iron. Both my wife and I liked its sound and the meaning. In fact, of all the names I ran by Kareena, she liked this one the best because it’s beautiful and strong. Taimur was the name of a boy he’d grown up with and a cousin too. It’s an old family name like Sara who was also named after a cousin I admired,” he said about Taimur.
“I should have added a disclaimer, as they do in the movies, that any resemblance to any person, living or dead, is purely coincidental… Yes, there were some people who raised some objections but obviously just to look at medieval history and to make value judgments is, I think, ridiculous, and a lot of people have said that on my behalf. I feel quite confident that we don’t live in a right-wing society. As yet, India is still liberal and people are still open miminded,” he added.
“Social media just makes it clear what everybody is thinking in a sense. There is a lot of anonymity from the side of the people who are doing the talking so they feel free to say whatever they like, and sometimes they get very nasty…And that’s fine. It doesn’t mean that twenty, thirty or forty years ago people weren’t thinking similar things but maybe they did not have an outlet then,” he said further.
He also revealed that Taimur resembles him and Kareena too told everyone that he yells, passes wind and scowls like Saif.
We agree with Saif’s each and every word.
