Ever since the date of auction of IPL was announced, every cricketer enthusiast was waiting for it. The IPL auction was held today at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Bangalore. There were total 351 players who were listed in the auction. Out of total 351, 200 players were domestic players and rest 151 were international players.
Ben Stoke, vice-captain of England team emerged as the highest paid cricketer. Rising Pune Supergiants signed strokes for Rs 14.50 crores. This deal made the owner of the team clear that they want to improve their game. Last season Rising Pune Supergiants had a very bad performance. They won just 5 matches and lost the rest of the 9 matches.Moreover, they were second last.
Therefore, the owner Sanjeev Goenka brought Ben by putting up the highest bid. Earlier just a few days before, Sanjeev Goenka removed MS Dhoni from the captaincy. it is evident that they want to come back in this season with a bang. They defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians to get Ben.
However, one shocking thing happened in the auction. Top-ranked cricketers like Irfan Pathan whose Base price was INR 50 lakhs, Ishant Sharma (Base price INR 2 crores) are missing. They remain unsold. Tymal Mills was the second most expensive player of this year’s auction. RCB bought him for Rs 12 Crores which was a pretty good deal for the cricketer.
