Train accidents are not something new in India. Every other day we get to hear the news of derailment on Tv. Not only in India, train accidents have become ubiquitous.
Even after reducing the chances of train tragedies, and increasing the security of passengers, these accidents continue to happen all over. The rate is quite high in India. Each time there is a train accident, the issue of safety in Indian Railways comes to the fore.
In the 6-year period between 2009-10 and 2014-15, a total of 803 accidents in Indian Railways happened in the six-year span(from 2009-10 and 2014-15) killing 620 people and injuring 1855 people. This has again triggered a debate on safety in the Indian railways.
